My starting point!

I started my meditation adventure at a very young age before I even knew what it actually was. From the moment I experienced my first yoga class, the feeling of grounding and balance, I began to wonder of the different ways I could bring those feelings into every hour of my day, every day of the year and every moment I breathed. I immediately started to read and educate myself on all the different breathing techniques and yoga practices that would help me achieve my dreams of feeling grounded and balanced all the time and by years of research and exploration I started to include visualizations and meditations into my practice.

I enjoyed these new aspects of my practice, I enjoyed moving away from the purely physical, and found the that these helped me connect with a different body of mine. Helped me to accept myself for exactly who I was and focus on my inner peace during an extremely emotional and stressful period. I was always a big wonderer and seeker for answers to questions and questions to answers of my mind and in stillness I found that I already have all the answers to my questions and I get better questions to ask.

My personal meditation progress!

I began with a yogic meditation, so at the end of each yoga practice I gathered all of my concentration on one intention, being in the present moment. By eliminating any thoughts of the past or the future, by having a pure moment of nothingness and steadiness I discovered within my self the inner consciousness and freedom from all disturbances of my routine.

At some point my daily lifestyle and ambitions were many times very stressful and demanding, so I started to let all the negatives affect my practice and disturb my everyday moment of mindfulness. We live in such a complex world that it’s easy to get lost in all the details, if we let ourselves. After quite a few signs from the universe I realized that I had lost that precious daily moment of disconnecting from reality and reconnecting with myself and my life had completely changed. So I made a bigger change of life!

As I started to enjoy my new way of life, the “disconnection from literally everything” as I used to say to myself (no phone/social media/toxic people) I reopened the world of meditation and exploration of my unconscious mind. I chose to try guided meditations, mantras and morning positive affirmations. Different powerful sounds and vibration that I used, to enter a deep state of meditation. Before going to bed, every night I would do a guided meditation and the next morning I would wake up with a few powerful positive affirmations and mantras. And with consistency I brought myself back to simplicity and started mediating a few times a day on my own with the help of my intuition to guide my feelings through. This method helped me circle back to the simplistic approach to life and focus on those things that inspire me and truly make me happy.

I realized that yes I needed to disconnect from the struggles I was going through at the time but also that the power is in my hands to build a life that I need no escaping from.

Starting your own Meditation Journey!

Simply for a few minutes, sit or lay on your back, close your eyes, open up your palms to the sky and breathe deeply.

One thing that I want you to know before you start:

In meditation there is no right or wrong. It’s completely natural and normal to struggle with your thoughts the first times that you’re practicing. But with every time it also gets easier. See it like training a muscle. The first time is always a little bit exhausting, and you might feel tired from trying the first few times, but as you continue to train your muscle, the easier it gets. Don’t give up and always start small.

Here are three affirmations I am currently focusing on when starting meditation that could help your practice:

Abundance: I am enough. I have enough. There will be enough.

Awareness: I have complete peace. I will live in this present moment.

Productivity: I am able to do and create great things.

I hope that this article inspired you to try out meditation for yourself. It’s such a wonderful practice that really helped me a lot in the past present and for my future. And now I strive to help others do the same.

I can’t wait to share more of what I’ve learned along the way!

Lots of love,

x Katerina
